WACOM has committed to an ongoing training program for the purpose of educating operators in best practices for the Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES) and emergency communications in general.

FEMA Classes

The following FEMA courses serve as an introduction to emergency site chain of command and procedures. Completion of these courses and passing of their associated exams are considered requirements for gaining access to many emergency sites.

• IS-100 - Introduction to Incident Command System (ICS)

• IS-700 - National Incident Management System (NIMS) An Introduction

• IS-200 - ICS for Single Resources and Initial Action Incidents

• IS-800 - National Response Framework, An Introduction
