There are two popular books that are meant to get you ready for the license exam, those written by the ARRL and those by Gordon West. The ARRL book is more like a textbook, it goes over the material chapter by chapter. The Gordon West books are more like a study guide. They go through each question, present the answer and then explain why that is the correct answer. What works best for you comes down to how you learn and like to study things.

Whatever book you buy, make sure it is the current version since they change the question pool every 4 years.

The ARRL also has a video series covering the Technician level licensing material: - ARRL Tech Class YouTube Playlist -

One of the great things about studying for a ham exam is that all the questions are available to see ahead of time, so you can study the exact questions you will see on the test. There are several websites that allow you to take practice tests, but hamstudy.org is one of the best options because you can set up an account and track what questions you have seen and what sections you struggle with the most, so you know where to focus your studying.

When you are ready to take your test you can find a test session in person in the area, or in recent years it has become very common for people to take their tests online. This can often be the most convenient option since there are online test sessions every day.
